Kara Bartelt

Kara Bartelt is a seasoned hospitality professional with extensive experience in hotel management and operations. Currently serving as General Manager at The Hoxton since August 2018, Kara leads all aspects of operations for a flagship lifestyle property in Downtown Los Angeles, navigating complex transitions and enhancing brand-aligned service. Previously, Kara held the role of Director of Operations at The Hoxton, successfully overseeing the launch of its first West Coast location. Prior to this, Kara contributed valuable expertise at Ace Hotel, where leadership roles included Director of Facilities & Safety and Director of Engineering. Further experience includes positions at the California Institute of Technology and the University of Southern California, where Kara taught architecture and managed facilities. Kara is also the founder of Lettuce Office, a multidisciplinary design studio, and has held significant roles at top architectural firms. Educational qualifications include a Master of Architecture from Yale University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from MIT.
