Sisi Wei's work experience includes:

- Editor-in-Chief at The Markup since 2022.

- Co-Executive Director at OpenNews from 2020 to 2022, where they led the organization's transformation into an anti-racist organization. Sisi also expanded the consulting practice and initiated impactful projects such as the Open Letter to the Pulitzers and Microloans for Journalists.

- Director of Programs at OpenNews from 2020 to 2021. Sisi founded the DEI Coalition for Anti-Racist, Equitable, and Just Newsrooms and established the Vision25 partnership.

- Assistant Managing Editor at ProPublica from 2018 to 2020. Sisi guided and managed investigative and explanatory news projects, including Pulitzer Prize-winning Disaster in the Pacific. Sisi also made strategic decisions on story pursuits and fostered diverse talent.

- News Applications Editor at ProPublica from 2017 to 2018, where they managed and led a team of developer-journalists. Sisi developed inclusive hiring and onboarding processes and facilitated career growth for a diverse team.

Sisi Wei's education history includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Legal Studies and Philosophy from Northwestern University. Additionally, they studied Mandarin Chinese at Beijing Language and Culture University. Before attending these universities, Sisi Wei completed their high school education at Mounds View Senior High School.
