The MIX Institute is a structured research and training system, not a traditional lab. It operates as a persistent research infrastructure where participants contribute to ongoing projects while developing quantitative and analytical skills.

At its core is a continuous meta-analysis coding system. Participants read scientific articles, extract methodological information, and translate research into structured datasets using standardized workflows. This system produces large-scale data on how research methods are applied across studies.

In parallel, the institute supports student-led research using curated datasets and runs workshops and methodological programming aligned with ongoing work. All activities are integrated through shared data, workflows, and roles.

Research associates contribute ~3–10 hours per week, participate in weekly meetings, complete coding tasks, and may hold a defined role supporting system infrastructure (e.g., quality control, data coordination, workshops, or training).

The institute produces datasets, research projects, conference presentations, and training resources. Skills are developed through structured participation in real research, not passive instruction.
