The Munising Beacon is Alger County’s hometown newspaper, delivering no-fluff, high-integrity reporting on the people, events, and issues that shape life in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Locally owned and fiercely independent, we believe the best journalism starts with listening. From school board meetings to community milestones, we cover the stories that matter—with clarity, context, and a commitment to telling it like it is. Whether it’s spotlighting student achievements, digging into policy decisions, or celebrating our region’s natural beauty, the Beacon is here to inform, connect, and reflect the community we serve.
