Patrick Doran

Divisional Director Of Strategy, Measures And Science at The Nature Conservancy

Patrick Doran has extensive work experience in the field of conservation and ecology. Patrick started their career as a Habitat Biologist with the State of Washington, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife in 1995 and worked there until 1998. In 2003, they joined the Wildlands Project as a Senior Ecologist/GIS Analyst for two years. Doran then moved on to The Nature Conservancy, where they held various positions. Patrick began as the Director of Science from an unspecified start date until December 2012. Subsequently, they became the Director of Conservation from April 2012 until October 2023. During this time, they also served as the Associate State Director from July 2015 until October 2023. Currently, Doran holds the position of Divisional Director of Strategy, Measures, and Science at The Nature Conservancy, starting in October 2023.

Patrick Doran holds a PhD in Ecology, which they obtained from Dartmouth College from 1998 to 2003. Before that, they pursued a Master's degree in Ecology and Environmental Science at Indiana University Bloomington between 1992 and 1995. Patrick began their academic journey at Villanova University, where they completed a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Biology from 1988 to 1991.
