Keith Plate has extensive experience in both medical and ministry roles. Since July 1987, Keith Plate has served as an Area Representative for The Navigators, focusing on ministry to international students. Prior to this, Keith Plate worked as a Medical Doctor at Ande Hospital in Nigeria from July 1979 to June 1989 and held the position of Principal Medical Officer at Ahmadu University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, Nigeria, from March 1975 to July 1979. Keith Plate earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine between 1961 and 1965 and previously obtained a Bachelor of Science in Zoology, Chemistry, and Physics from Iowa State University from 1958 to 1962.
