The Open Source Press, is an independent media platform dedicated to covering the future of open technology. We operate at the intersection of technology, community, and innovation, with a focus on the ideas and systems that belong to everyone.

In an era where technology increasingly governs our daily lives, ownership matters. The promise of the internet was to democratize information and innovation, but we've witnessed the steady centralization of power into fewer and fewer hands. Open Source Press exists to spotlight the alternatives—the technologies, communities, and movements building a more equitable digital future.

We believe in tech optimism—not because things are perfect, but because anyone can fork the code and build something better. Our reporting focuses on technologies that are shared, open, and decentralized, examining both the promise and challenges of building in the open.

From community-maintained software that powers the internet to decentralized networks reclaiming digital sovereignty, we cover the technologies that create more equitable power structures and ownership models. We investigate the politics, economics, and culture surrounding open technology, and the people building these critical systems.

Open Source Press is where open tech gets loud. We amplify the signal in the noise, highlighting the builders, communities, and projects shaping our technical future.
