The Precision Performance Lab provides nervous system-based performance coaching for elite athletes in basketball, baseball, distance running, and beyond.

This work is built on a simple but powerful insight: performance breakdowns under pressure are rarely about effort, talent, or desire. They happen when the nervous system shifts into protection mode — disrupting timing, tightening focus, and making practiced skills suddenly inaccessible. Training the nervous system directly changes that.

Using Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing principles, and polyvagal-informed regulation, we help athletes stay composed under pressure, reset quickly after mistakes, and perform consistently when the stakes are highest.

Who we work with:
Elite high school, collegiate, and professional athletes — individually and through coach referrals — who have the skill and preparation but can't consistently access it in competition.

What makes this different:
This is not sports psychology as usual. It is not motivation or mindset coaching. The Precision Performance Lab works at the intersection of advanced neuroscience and precision performance — with clinical depth that few performance coaches bring to this work.

Dan VerBout is a Brainspotting Consultant — one of the highest designations in Brainspotting training worldwide — a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in training, and a graduate-level trained clinician in counseling and psychological services.

Sessions are available in-person in Minnesota and virtually nationwide.
