Stephen Barber is a seasoned professional in civil engineering and leadership, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer, President, and Deputy President of the Permanent Way Institution since July 2016. Prior to this role, Stephen held the position of Professional Head of Permanent Way Engineering at Transport for London from July 2010 to November 2018. Stephen’s earlier experience includes serving as the Safety & Engineering Director at Babcock Rail from January 2003 to July 2010. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Glasgow, earned between 1975 and 1978.
