The Queen’s Reading Room is an independent charity working to prove, promote and share the power of reading.

We exist to Make Room for Reading.

Reading for pleasure is in decline, yet the joy and benefits of books are needed more than ever. Reading can support wellbeing, focus, imagination, empathy and connection, helping people to pause, think, feel and engage with the world around them.

The charity grew from Her Majesty Queen Camilla’s Reading Room, the online book club launched in 2021. Today, through our global reading community, festivals, events, research and charitable partnerships, we champion reading as something vital, joyful and accessible for everyone.

Alongside this wider public work, our grassroots partnerships help bring books and reading into community settings where they may be needed most, including through work supporting people experiencing homelessness and those rebuilding their lives after domestic abuse.

We work to inspire a love of reading, build understanding of its benefits, and share the power of books as widely as possible.
