The Sunday Soirée is a youth-led cultural enterprise turning Malawian creativity into income, human connection, and a working economy around every event. Founded in 2023 in Lilongwe, we stage premium live experiences powered entirely by local talent: music, art, food, and design woven into one night. We are not in the business of events. We are in the business of human connection.

We saw a collision of two truths. People are more connected online and more alone than ever. At the same time, Malawian artisans, makers, and artists are too often left out of the formal economy. Our answer was simple: bring them together in one room, around real culture, and let connection do its work.

Every Sunday Soirée is a marketplace. Since March 2023, we have paid 300+ artists, brought 50+ vendors into direct trade with customers, and sustained 56 jobs through partnership with STEM Malawi. Every event is fully cashless, powered by FDH Bank Plc, meaning every transaction is measurable and kept local. Twenty thousand guests have shown up, not for spectacle, but for proof that culture works.

We partner with organisations that share this vision: FDH Bank Plc powers our cashless infrastructure, Ekhaya Farms Foods powers our food & beverag locally, STEM Malawi builds workforce skills through real work, PayChangu handles ticketing, and Zaluso Arts is our creative home. Over 60 percent of the music we play is Malawian, a policy backed by data showing that when you lead with local talent, people show up and artists get paid.

What began as one event has become a movement proving that culture is not a side hustle. It's an economy. We align with four UN Sustainable Development Goals: No Poverty through direct artist income, Decent Work through fair wages and skill transfer, Innovation through our cashless model, and Partnerships through multi-stakeholder collaboration. We are building a Malawi where creativity is recognised as a valued economic output, where artists earn sustainable income.
