Michael Barnes has a diverse work experience in the broadcasting industry. Michael started their career in 1989 as an Earth Station Maintenance Engineer at Group W Network Svcs. Michael then worked as a Program Manager at Group W Network Svcs for a short period in 1998 before joining CBS Television Network as a Satellite Traffic Manager. At CBS, their role included scheduling satellite feeds between CBS New York and its US affiliates and International Bureaus. Michael later joined PanAmSat Corporation in 1999 as a Special Events Project Manager and Broadcast Services. Michael'sresponsibilities included managing projects and broadcast services for special events. In 2005, they became a Freelance Video Engineer at AMConsulting, and in 2008, they joined Ascent Media Network Services as an Earth Station Engineer. In 2012, they joined The Switch as a Broadcast Engineer, where they were responsible for engineering and operating the Master Control and studio facilities. Michael also managed video and data fiber optic systems between facilities in New York, LA, London, and Washington D.C. In 2019, they worked as an Engineer in Charge at CBS Sports Network and also as a Freelance Studio Engineer at Verizon Digital Media Services. Michael'smost recent role is as a Project Manager at The Switch, starting in 2022.
Michael Barnes obtained an AAS in Electrical Engineering from SUNY Westchester Community College from 1977 to 1980. Michael then pursued a BS in Engineering with a focus on Electrical Engineering at Farleigh Dickinson University from 1982 to 1985. Additionally, Michael holds additional certifications such as the Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, which they obtained in March 2022, and the Level 1 Certification from Audinate, obtained in October 2019.
