Using a “teach them to fish” model grounded in a data-driven continuous improvement framework, the Tia Foundation trains and equips community health workers, elected by their fellow villagers, in some of the most remote areas of rural Mexico where no doctors are available.

For just $5 per person, Tia creates a permanent, self-sustaining healthcare system. Each health worker receives a robust medical kit and continuing education, which is maintained by local governments. These trained Promotores now serve over 994,000 people, providing vaccinations, delivering babies, managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, and leading preventative health education.

Every community graduates with the leadership structure and tools to tackle broader challenges like economic development, clean water, and access to education. Remarkably, Tia’s model has also led to a reduction in U.S. immigration by up to 400% and a documented drop in domestic violence, a testament to the power of sustainable community empowerment.
