The Untold Direction is a boutique travel agency and tour operator specializing in private and group trips to destinations off-the-beaten-track, such as countries in Central Asia, the Caucuses and Iran. 

Created in 2022, The Untold Direction is the brainchild of Ganesha Balakrishnan. Wanting to share his infectious love for travel to places less visited, Ganesha founded this boutique travel agency specializing in trips that heavily emphasize culture, history and nature. As a staunch believer in lifelong learning and that no one should break the bank to travel, Ganesha created The Untold Direction whose trips aim to give travelers budget-friendly, culturally authentic and immersive experiences.

Trips by The Untold Direction are geared towards budget-conscious and outdoorsy travelers who are eager to explore places less-visited, all while having an enriching, memorable, culturally authentic and fun experience.   

With ethical travel being one of our guiding ethos, The Untold Direction works directly with almost all of our partners -- guesthouse owners, homestay families, transport providers, and guides -- and without any intermediaries. This ensures a fair distribution of trip proceeds with our partners. In other words, when you travel with us, entire communities benefit!

The Untold Direction is happy to have grown rapidly since its humble beginnings and employs 4 full-time staff, and works with more than a dozen different partners in the countries it operates.
