The Wexford Residence Inc. is a vibrant seniors residence in Scarborough that combines independent apartments, long-term care and a seniors’ community centre. Established in 1978 and incorporated in 1995, The Wexford is owned and operated by a charitable non-profit corporation with a Board of Directors. In September 2017, The Wexford Residence, Inc was surveyed by Accreditation Canada, an independent not-for-profit organization that sets standards for quality and safety in health care. The Wexford Residence attained the highest level of performance, achieving excellence in meeting the requirements of the accreditation program. It was awarded “Accredited with Exemplary Standing”. The Board of Directors congratulates all the staff of The Wexford for this significant accomplishment in our journey of continuous quality improvement.

In June 2021, after a three year journey, The Wexford Residence became a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) designate home hosted by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO). 

After successfully completing the pre-qualifying deliverables from 2018-2021, The Wexford Residence was awarded the Long Term Care Best Practice Spotlight Organization (LTC-BPSO)® Designation for 2021-23. This work was implemented in partnership with The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO), and is a testament to our commitment to maximize clinical excellence through the use of RNAO’s Best Practice Guidelines.
