From ‘first draft’ to 'the end', our practical and supportive workshops, courses, private coaching and editorial support provide the skills, confidence, techniques and inspiration to help you develop and explore your writing voice.

The Writers’ Gym is founded and run by fiction and non-fiction author, lecturer, and personal and business coach Dr Rachel Knightley. Author of two short story collections, Beyond Glass (2021) and Twisted Branches (2023) both published by Black Shuck Books. Many of her short stories have been featured in anthologies such as British Fantasy Award-nominated Dreamland, Great British Horror 5 (Black Shuck Books) and Uncertainties Vol. 3 (Swan River Press). She is also the author of Your Creative Writing Toolkit and GCSE Drama Revision and Study Guide (Illuminate/Hodder). She writes and presents for magazines, Blu-ray extras and online series including Severin Films, Second Sight Films, Imprint Films, Starburst Magazine and Youtube, Writing Magazine, Jewish Renaissance and Indicator Films. Awards include the PROMIS Prize for Children’s Literature (‘The Existence of Tim’) and First Prize for Fiction in Writers’ Forum Magazine (‘Wolf in the Mirror’).
