Jan Boonen

Jan Boonen is a seasoned software developer with a robust background in software architecture, cloud computing, and Java software development. Currently serving as a Senior Software Developer at Rijkswaterstaat since July 2024, Jan works on platform services aimed at optimizing inland shipping in the Netherlands and neighboring countries. As a Senior Software Craftsman at the/experts since November 2022, Jan advises clients on implementing high-quality software solutions with a human-centric approach and actively participates in development teams. Previous roles include Principal Java Developer at UWV, Software Architect at Trifork, and Software Architect and Tech Lead at Geodan, where Jan led the development of a cloud platform focused on location intelligence. Early career experiences involved roles at IFES Europe and Zoutewelle Media Groep, where Jan contributed to various projects, including website development and organizational initiatives. Jan holds a Master’s degree in Geophysics from Utrecht University.
