Theia Labs develops wireless power transfer (WPT) systems for space applications.

Founded in 2024, Theia Labs was created to solve one of space exploration’s main challenges: reliable power when sunlight is unavailable. The company originated from a project during the SpaceTech Master’s program at TU Graz, where the team designed a wireless power system to help lunar rovers survive the 14-day lunar night.

What started as a lunar power concept has evolved into a broader mission to build scalable WPT solutions for both space and Earth. Theia Labs is now developing its first prototype to demonstrate wireless energy transfer for satellites and future planetary missions.

We focus on three key applications:
• Space-to-space wireless power: Laser-based power beaming for CubeSats and SmallSats in Low Earth Orbit
• Precision agriculture: Laser systems for selective, herbicide-free weed control
• Lunar missions: Power delivery from orbiting satellites to rovers and landers for operations during the lunar night
