Thenga is a women-led start-up based in Kerala, India, founded by Maria Kuriakose in 2019. The company is dedicated to crafting unique and sustainable products using discarded coconut shells, while simultaneously supporting the agricultural sector of Kerala. Thenga's mission is to prevent coconut shells from ending up in landfills and instead transform them into beautiful and functional items.

Inspired by her roots in Kerala and the abundant coconut resources in the region, Maria Kuriakose decided to establish Thenga to contribute to the local agricultural industry. Coconuts hold a special place in Kerala's heritage, as the state's name itself signifies "land of coconuts" (Kera meaning coconuts). By utilizing coconut shells, Thenga not only pays homage to this rich cultural heritage but also promotes eco-friendly practices.

Thenga's products are meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans in a small village in Kerala. The company's offerings include an exquisite range of home decor, kitchenware and jewellery accessories, all made from upcycled coconut shells.

Through our online platform, Thenga enables customers from all around the world to support their mission and purchase these eco-friendly products. By choosing Thenga, customers not only embrace conscious consumerism but also contribute to the sustainable development of Kerala's agricultural sector.

By combining traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary vision, Thenga is making a positive impact on the environment, the local community, and the lives of its artisans.
