Marlan Walker is the current General Counsel at TherapeuticsMD. Prior to this, they worked as Counsel for Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP from February 2013 to June 2013. Before that, they were the Intellectual Property Counsel for Medicis from June 2011 to December 2012.
Marlan has experience in patent preparation and prosecution, intellectual property opinion work, life-cycle management of patent portfolios, implementing life-cycle strategies for late-stage patent portfolios, managing U.S. and foreign copyright and trademark portfolios, contract negotiation and drafting, cease and desist program implementation, counseling executive management regarding in-licensing and acquisition opportunities, in-licensing and acquisition due diligence, negotiation and resolution of contract disputes, counseling R&D, regulatory, and medical affairs groups regarding legal strategies, patentability and freedom to operate analysis, and developing and prosecuting portfolio strategy for acquired Medicis products.
Marlan Walker completed their undergraduate education at Brigham Young University, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Zoology/Mathematics. Marlan then attended the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University for their Juris Doctor (J.D.). After law school, they completed a Master's degree in Molecular Biology at Brigham Young University. Finally, they earned their LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from The George Washington University Law School.
