David Basiji

David Basiji is the current director at ThinkCyte. David was previously the vice president of engineering at Biocare Medical from May 2015 to May 2019. David was responsible for the concept, design, and development of Biocare's fully automated FDA Class 1/Class 2 tissue staining platform known as the Valent. Novel features of this platform include a battery-hybrid power system to increase slide capacity by 60% over competitors, a patented continuous-dispense antigen retrieval process, and an automated self-leveling system to ensure consistently high staining quality. Prior to that, they were the Senior Director, Cellular Analysis at MilliporeSigma from October 2011 to March 2015. David managed the integration of Amnis within MilliporeSigma and took responsibility for Sales and Marketing within the company's ~$60 million cellular analysis business. Over the course of three years, they drove the Amnis business to a CAGR of 30% and helped turn around the remaining legacy MilliporeSigma cellular analysis business from a -10% year-over-year decline to +4% growth. David is also an affiliate professor at the University of Washington, Department of Bioengineering.

David Basiji's educational career began at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. David then went on to study biophysics at the University of California, Berkeley, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. After that, they pursued a Master of Science in bioengineering and biomedical engineering at the University of Washington. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in bioengineering and biomedical engineering from the University of Washington as well.
