Nicholas Shaw

Nicholas Shaw is a seasoned data engineering and technology professional with extensive experience in the energy and emissions management sectors. Currently serving as Principal Data Engineer at Thinkific since November 2024, Nicholas has previously held significant roles such as Principal Developer and CTO at Highwood Emissions Management, where efforts were focused on innovative solutions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Nicholas's background also includes serving as VP of Data and Principal Software Developer at Clir Renewables, utilizing Python, Golang, MySQL, and Redshift for analytics. Earlier positions include Automation Engineer at both Tarco and TransCanada, where Nicholas managed control systems for power plants and oil pipelines. Nicholas began an engineering career at ABB, responsible for automation and SCADA support. An academic foundation was established with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Software Engineering from the University of Calgary and further data science training through a Udacity Nanodegree.
