Sam Root

Sam Root is currently an Assistant Professor of Macromolecular Science & Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, where they focus on functional polymer composites for energy, healthcare, and robotics. Previously, Sam pursued postdoctoral research at Stanford University and Harvard University, specializing in organic electronic materials and the materials science of polymers. Sam holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UC San Diego and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester. Their early career included roles as a Quality Control Technician at Excelsior Packaging Group and an Optical Materials Research Intern at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics.
