Junior Software Developer at Third Iron

Emily Roble has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2013 as a Circulation Assistant at the Blacksburg Public Library. In 2016, they became an Assistant Cataloging and Reference Librarian at the Roanoke County Public Library, where they cataloged thousands of items and assisted patrons with research, computer literacy, and reader's advisory. In 2017, they moved to Skymap Games as a Localization Coordinator, where they found and organized translations for the game "Bacon Man" and set deadlines for translation to prevent crunch times. In 2018, they took on two roles: a Library Assistant at the Burbank Public Library and a Localization QA Tester at Square Enix. At the Burbank Public Library, they assisted patrons one-on-one with a variety of technology and answered a variety of reference questions. At Square Enix, they routinely multitasked by handling various problems in different stages while meeting tight deadlines, coordinated a group of testers to check for functionality inconsistencies across multiple gaming platforms and devices, and ensured the highest quality of localized text by checking for correct spelling, grammar, consistency, context and appropriate phrasing. In 2019, they returned to Skymap Games as a VR Tester, where they assisted in the testing of VR functionality for a project using the HTC Vive, submitted detailed bug reports for functionality issues, and submitted suggestions to improve player experience. Finally, they are currently a Junior Software Developer at Third Iron.

Emily Roble recently completed an Immersive Bootcamp at the Grace Hopper Program at Fullstack Academy in 2021. Prior to this, they obtained a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from the University of North Texas in 2014. Emily also earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature, General from James Madison University in 2012. Emily also holds a Certificate of Completion from The Grace Hopper Program at Fullstack Academy, which they obtained in December 2021, as well as a CPR and AED certification from the Health and Safety Institute, which they obtained in March 2017.
