Cary Pfeffer

Cary leads Third Rock’s partner development efforts to build and maintain strong relationships with R&D and business executives of most major biotech and pharmaceutical companies in order to enhance portfolio companies’ efforts to enter collaborations with them. In addition to leading multiple portfolio companies as CBO or CEO when they launch, Cary has played an instrumental role in a number of innovative alliances across Third Rock's portfolio, including an industry-leading global strategic collaboration between Agios and Celgene in the field of cancer metabolism.

Cary was first introduced to the biotech industry during medical school. After his training, he joined Biogen and never looked back. Cary is motivated by the incredible successes at Third Rock and our portfolio companies, especially the creation of new impactful drugs that change patients’ lives. He is impressed by the spectacular teams at our companies and the work they do in complex areas of science. He is proud to have been with Third Rock since its inception in 2007 to help build the firm and create a new venture model. Besides being proud of TRV and all its great companies, his greatest accomplishments are marrying his wife and raising his two daughters.
