Robotics Deployment Engineer at Third Wave Automation

Weilin Ma has a diverse work experience. Weilin began their career as the Captain of the Robot Soccer Team at Chengdu Shishi High School in 2010. Weilin then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University, where they achieved a major GPA of 3.77 and was on the Dean's List for all 8 semesters from 2013-2017. During their time at Penn State, they also worked as an Instrument Room Staff in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where they were responsible for organizing and lending tools to students and staff. In 2014, they interned at The Timken Company. In 2015, they returned to Penn State University to pursue a Master of Science in Robotics, where they achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.64 and completed coursework in ROS, Robot Design Studio, Mechatronics, Robotic Manipulation, Machine Dynamics, Embedded Systems, and Machine Learning. Weilin also conducted an independent research project on microcontroller embedded robots and mechatronics machinery with feedback control system. In 2018, they worked as a Robotics Engineer Intern at Venture 3 Systems LLC, where they were responsible for the entire Assistive Robotic Arm project. In 2019, they worked as a Cobotics Engineer at Fusion OEM, where they were in charge of industrial collaborative robots programming and maintenance, and robotics software package development. Weilin also performed duties including mechanical design, prototyping, testing and material sourcing for various robot related projects. In 2020, they worked as a Robotics Deployment Engineer at Amazon Robotics. Weilin is currently working as a Robotics Deployment Engineer at Third Wave Automation.

Weilin Ma's education history began in 2010 when they attended Chengdu Shishi High School as a General and Science Student. In 2013, they graduated and moved on to Penn State University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2017. That same year, they completed a semester exchange at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Mechanical Engineering. Finally, in 2018, they earned a Master of Science in Robotics from Northwestern University, specializing in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering.
