The Thomas Mann School, one of Lübeck's seven high schools, stands out for its commitment to sustainability and education.

As a European school, the TMS is a notable institution, promoting English as a second language through a bilingual concept. The school hosts an international student body and organizes an extensive travel and exchange program with a focus on Europe. The annual UN simulation, MUNOL (Model United Nations of Lübeck), further solidifies TMS's status as an international school. In recognition of its global engagement, TMS received the special prize for "Democracy Education in School and Teaching" from the Prime Minister of the State of Schleswig-Holstein in the 2020 "School of the Year" competition.

At TMS, a strong emphasis is placed on sustainability, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The school actively addresses ecological concerns and fosters a social environment characterized by mutual respect. This ethos is rooted in a well-established pedagogical concept, emphasizing individual development and self-responsible learning of high school content.
