Farm to your plate: Going back to the roots

Picture yourself ordering products without knowing where they are coming from. Which one is fresher? How long has it been there? Is it really fresh? 

Now, cut to you walking on lush green lands, the smell of fresh earth rejuvenating your senses, as you cross a blooming harvest of paddy, greens and livestock. Somewhere behind you the soft bells of goats clank as the rooster signals the start of a beautiful day. Knowing that the produce you see before your eyes will be on your plate, fresh and flavourful definitely brings a sense of wholeness and satisfaction, don’t you agree?  

For ages, our forefathers and poets have praised Mother Earth for her abundant love, bountiful produce and constant care for her children. She is Thooya Bhoomi (Pure Earth), the giver and nurturer, right here on our farm. 

Thooya Bhoomi stemmed from our attempts to tell our daughter where the food on our plates came from. Just as you would set up a tomato plant in your balcony to teach your child how tomatoes come to be, we set up Thooya Bhoomi, a beautiful yet manageable farm outside the humdrum of Chennai, where we began raising native breeds of chicken, goats, paddy and seeds to extract fresh and pure oil.

We began this farm to not only supply farm produce but also provide a healthy, memorable experience to families visiting us. It is not only about eating cooked food but also knowing where it comes from - savour each bite knowing where the flavours take roots in.
