Michael Simpson

Michael Simpson is a seasoned data scientist currently serving as a Staff Data Scientist at Thorn since July 2020, after advancing from a Senior Data Scientist role. Prior experience includes Chief Data Scientist at Snthesis and various senior positions at Very, where responsibilities spanned data science practice leadership and software engineering. Michael began a career in software and web development at companies such as SciMed Solutions and Speckled Web, transitioning from web development to data science roles. Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Stetson University. Additional earlier positions include clerical and organizational roles at Duke University and Sears Holdings Corporation, along with tutoring and lifeguarding during academic years.
