Sophie Theis

Sophie Theis is a qualitative user researcher specializing in making government services, financial products, and new technologies more effective for low-income women in emerging markets. Currently serving as the Research Lead in Trust & Safety at Threads since 2025, Sophie previously held roles such as Senior Research Analyst at the International Food Policy Research Institute and Qualitative Research Specialist at Women’s World Banking. With advanced degrees in Earth Systems from Stanford University, Sophie utilizes ethnographic and UX research methods to uncover user insights that promote women's economic empowerment.
