Michael Stein

Michael Stein is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in intellectual property law, particularly in patent law, litigation, industry standards, and open source software licensing. Stein served as a Partner at Baker & Hostetler LLP from June 1989 to May 2020 before founding MDS Advisory Services, LLC in September 2023 to offer high-quality consulting that integrates legal expertise with business and technology insights. In addition to freelance advisory roles for early-stage startups, Stein has held positions such as General Counsel and Strategy Officer at D4DT and Partner and General Counsel at SWAN Venture Group.
