Katya Heldwein has a diverse work experience in the field of molecular biology and medicine. Katya started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Oregon Health and Science University in 1999. After that, they moved to Harvard Medical School and Children's Hospital Boston, where they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and later as an Instructor in Molecular Medicine until 2006. In the same year, they joined Tufts University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor and gradually advanced to the roles of Associate Professor and Professor. Currently, they hold the position of American Cancer Society (MA Division) Professor of Molecular Biology at Tufts University School of Medicine. Additionally, in 2017, Katya co-founded Thyreos.
Katya Heldwein completed their education with a focus on Biochemistry and Chemistry. Katya earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from Oregon Health & Science University, where they attended from 1994 to 1999. Prior to that, they pursued a Diplom (M.S. equivalent) in Chemistry from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) between 1989 and 1994.
