Neil Thomas has extensive work experience in the life science and healthcare technology industries. Neil began their career as a Partner at Ventac Partners in 2012, where they were involved in founding new companies, market and product analysis, fundraising, and strategy consulting. In 2020, they became the Chief Business Officer at Cube Labs, a venture builder in the healthcare technology space focused on transforming academic science into healthcare solutions.
In 2013, Neil co-founded ZipPrime OÜ and served as a Board Member, contributing to the development of a novel technology for early disease diagnosis through capturing and preserving circulating free DNA (cfDNA) biomarkers. Neil also served as an Interim CBO at THYTECH and an IP & Business Development Advisor at EOLO PHARMA in 2023.
Neil's work experience also includes roles as a Technology Transfer Advisor at the University of Tartu since 2012, a Business Mentor at the Nordic Mentor Network For Entrepreneurship (NOME) since 2022, and a SuperMentor at EIT Health Catapult since 2022. Neil has also served as a Visiting Lecturer at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) since 2012, teaching a course on patenting and commercialization of biotech and medtech inventions.
Additionally, Neil has been involved with Idogen AB, initially as an IP Advisor from 2014 to 2023 and then as Chief Business Officer from 2014 to 2023.
Neil Thomas completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Birmingham from 1989 to 1992. Neil then pursued their Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Durham University, which they completed from 1992 to 1996. Later, in 1998, Neil attended Queen Mary University of London to obtain a Post-Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law.
