Derek Ferguson

Chief Administrative Officer at TIAA

Derek Ferguson is Chief Administrative Officer responsible for leading the evolution of TIAA's strategy and the planning and delivery of strategic enterprise initiatives. He is also accountable for global corporate services and the overall operations of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer.

Prior to joining TIAA, Derek served as the interim Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Robin Hood Foundation, which as New York's largest poverty-fighting organization is deeply mission driven like TIAA. He was responsible for setting the financial, operational and strategic goals designed to advance the charity's focus on fighting poverty in New York City.

Derek brings a wealth of experience across a range of industries. Before joining Robin Hood Foundation, he was Chief Growth Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Combs Enterprises, where he managed various business ventures and brands on behalf of the music artist, entertainer and entrepreneur Sean "Diddy" Combs and also served as COO at Revolt Media & TV, a television broadcasting company founded by Combs. Prior to Combs Enterprises, he was VP of Finance and Operations for BMG Special Products, a division of BMG Entertainment. Before that he was at Bain & Company as strategy consulting manager focused on consumer products companies and retailers.

He serves on numerous boards including those of Revolt Media & TV, Riverside Hawks Basketball, Capital Prep Schools (Harlem and Bronx, NY) and New York Covenant Development Corp.

Derek holds a Bachelor's degree from the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and MBA from Harvard University.
