Frederick Fernando

Frederick Fernando has a strong background in security engineering and threat detection. Frederick most recently worked as a Senior Threat Detection Engineer at Tide since March 2023. Prior to that, they held the role of Senior Security Engineer at Lummo (formerly BukuKas) from February 2022 to November 2022, where they led the security function of Cloud (GCP) and Kubernetes (GKE) and implemented security controls into platform engineering processes. Before Lummo, Frederick worked as a Security Engineer at InfraCloud Technologies from October 2020 to February 2022, specializing in DevSecOps, Cloud, and Kubernetes security. Frederick also worked as a Security Researcher at Cyware Labs from November 2019 to October 2020, focusing on integrating various security, network, and cloud infrastructure with the SOAR product and building automation playbooks for defensive security use cases. Frederick's earlier experience includes working as a Junior Security Researcher and later as a Cyber Security Analyst at Network Intelligence from December 2017 to November 2019, where they worked on building use cases and conducting threat hunting using Elastic SIEM.

Frederick Fernando has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer Science from the University of Mumbai. Prior to that, they completed their Junior College education in Computer Science at Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth in Mumbai. Frederick also attended Don Bosco High School Matunga for their Higher Secondary education. In 2017, Frederick obtained a certification as a Certified Information Security Consultant from the Institute of Information Security (IIS). Additionally, they have obtained certifications as a Certified Ethical Hacker from EC-Council and another certification as a Certified Information Security Consultant from IIS.
