Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, one of the Globally ranked and a respected institution running in its 171st year has the unique distinction of being the oldest engineering college in the whole of the Commonwealth and the First Technical University of Independent India.

The most influential parameter in ranking for IIT Roorkee had been our citations per faculty member in which we are globally at the 36th position according to QS-2019 with an overall global position at 381, moving up by 50 spots compared to the previous year. In comparison to top Indian institutes, IITR is in the second position in research citations. With an excellent pool of faculty members, researchers we have also been able to maintain our position as the 6th in top national institutions in engineering (NIRF-2018).
