Albert Chen is an expert in microservice architecture, streaming programming, and analytics. Currently serving as the Lead Backend Engineer at TikTok since 2024, Albert contributes to the TikTok Risk engine and systems. Prior to this role, Albert held the position of Principal Architect at Microsoft from 2019 to 2024, where they supported a large distributed system for Microsoft Ads and developed various anti-spam and anti-malware systems for Office 365. Albert also worked as a Staff Software Engineer at Twitter from 2015 to 2019, leading the product safety systems team and developing a real-time rule engine for spam and abuse detection. Albert holds a Ph.D. in Computing Science from the University of Alberta, as well as a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Tsinghua University.
