Chris O'Connell is currently the Editorial Policy Lead at TikTok, having previously served as the US Policy Lead for Violent and Graphic Content. Before joining TikTok in 2022, Chris held various roles in media, including Producer at CBS News 48 Hours from 2006 to 2022, and Reporter for Court TV Extra from 2004 to 2006. Chris also worked as a News Producer at CNET and a Police Reporter at The Daily Herald, among other positions. They earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan and a Master's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, Chris was an Assistant Language Teacher through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program(me) from 1997 to 1999.
