Azhar Rahmat has extensive work experience in the telecommunications industry. Azhar started their career in 1995 at Maxis Communications Bhd as a Principal Engineer, where they supported the transmission network for operations and maintenance. In 2009, they briefly served as the Head at Maxis Malaysia. From 2010 to 2017, Azhar worked at TIME dotCom Berhad as the Head of Transport Planning. Azhar then joined CMC Telecom in 2017 as the Chief Technology Officer until 2019. Azhar returned to TIME dotCom Berhad in 2019 as the Head of Strategic Rollout, and later became the Head of Network Operations in 2020.
Azhar Rahmat completed their Bachelor of Electronic Engineering in Computer Engineering at Universiti Putra Malaysia from 1988 to 1995. Prior to that, they attended Sekolah Damansara Jaya from 1984 to 1988. Azhar also added to their education by obtaining a certification in "Shadows of Medellín: High-stakes leadership in action" from InsideRisk in the year 2023.
