Dave Calhoun has a diverse work experience in the media and entertainment industry. Dave began their career as a freelance film journalist and later worked as a staff writer and managing editor for Dazed & Confused magazine. Dave then served as the deputy editor of the magazine, where they commissioned features, managed editorial staff, and developed relationships in the entertainment industry. Calhoun also worked as a consulting curator and host for film distributors, awards bodies, and organizations such as Sony Pictures UK, BAFTA, and the London Film Festival. Dave has conducted on-stage interviews with renowned filmmakers, writers, and actors. Additionally, Calhoun has held various roles at Time Out Group plc, including film editor and global deputy editor-in-chief. In their current position as Chief Content Officer for North America and UK at Time Out Group, they oversee content teams, manages budgets, and collaborates with editors and writers across the company's owned and operated and licensee businesses worldwide. Calhoun has also consulted for Guardian News & Media, where they curated and managed courses on film producing, screenwriting, and film criticism for Guardian Masterclasses. Furthermore, they worked as a consulting curator and business development professional for Hibrow.tv, an online arts video platform. In this role, they collaborated with the founder to develop content and secure funding. Overall, Calhoun has extensive experience in content creation, curation, leadership, and event hosting within the media and entertainment industry.
Dave Calhoun earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford, where they studied from 1996 to 1999.
