Matt Kettmann

Matt Kettmann is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in various editorial roles at The Santa Barbara Independent since September 1999, including Senior Writer, Senior Editor, Pop Culture Editor, News Reporter, and Proofreader. Kettmann has served as a Contributing Editor for The Wine Enthusiast since March 2014 and has contributed as a Stringer for both The New York Times and Time Magazine since 2010 and 2004, respectively. In addition, Kettmann co-founded New Noise Santa Barbara, an annual music conference and festival, and has freelanced for Smithsonian Magazine, Wine Spectator, and Sunset Magazine. Kettmann holds a degree in Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Professional Writing from UC Santa Barbara (1995-1999) and attended Bellarmine College Preparatory from 1991 to 1995.
