Nik Popli

Nik Popli is a Politics/Congress Reporter at TIME since June 2021, specializing in national politics, Congress, the Trump Administration, and economic issues. Previous roles include involvement with the UVA Center for Politics as a contributor to Sabato's Crystal Ball and leadership positions at The Cavalier Daily, where responsibilities ranged from Editor-in-Chief and President/CEO to News Editor and Senior Staff Writer. Nik also held fellowships focused on democracy and voting rights at The GroundTruth Project and the Miller Center of Public Affairs, and gained legal experience as a Summer Legal Intern at Goel & Anderson. Early journalistic work includes serving as a Student Correspondent for The Washington Post, publishing eight articles during a competitive mentorship program while in high school. Nik holds a Bachelor's Degree with Distinction in Media Studies, Politics, and Entrepreneurship from the University of Virginia.
