Peter Houtmeyers has a diverse range of work experience. Peter started their career in 2012 as an iPad iBook Place Project publication developer at the Australasian University Consortium. Peter then worked as a freelance sound designer, providing audio mixing and mastering services for various short films. In 2012, they also served as a member of the judging panel for the Fistful of Films Festival.

From 2009 to 2013, Houtmeyers worked at Charles Darwin University in multiple roles, including as an online media developer and as a VET & Higher Ed course coordinator. Peter was responsible for teaching multimedia courses and coordinating the curriculum. Peter also co-authored an article on Work-Integrated Learning, which was published in an online journal.

Houtmeyers briefly worked as a lecturer in audio at Southbank Institute of Technology in 2013. Later that year, they became a research assistant at Queensland University of Technology, providing support for a curriculum review project.

From 2014 to 2016, Houtmeyers worked as an industry advisor at Think: Education Group. Their role involved building networks with employers and industry bodies to provide industry placements for students.

From 2016 to 2018, Houtmeyers worked at Laureate Australia as the Manager of Industry Connections. Peter led a team in identifying student employability experiences and creating opportunities for increased graduate employability.

Since 2019, Houtmeyers has been a Client Manager APAC at Symplicity Corporation. In this role, they are responsible for client success, implementation, and management of SaaS solutions for the Higher Education market in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2023, Houtmeyers transitioned to the role of Technical Customer Success Manager at TimeEdit, where they continue to contribute to customer success.

Peter Houtmeyers began their education in 1998 at Temple Bar Music Centre, where they earned a Diploma in Audio Engineering. In 2008, they attended Middlesex University Dubai and obtained a Bachelor of Recording Arts (Hons.) in Sound Engineering. In 2009, they attended Charles Darwin University, completing a Certificate IV TAA in Training & Assessment. Peter later returned to Charles Darwin University in 2011 to earn a Certificate IV TAE in Training & Assessment, specializing in Education.
