Chris Colwell has a diverse work experience in various fields. Chris started their career in 2009 as a Cashier at Dairy Queen and then worked as a Front Loader at Lowe's Companies, Inc. in 2012. In 2013, they served as a Teacher Assistant for both the courses of Intro to GIS for Geoscientists and Natural Disasters at BYU-Idaho.

From 2014 to 2016, Chris worked as a GIS Intern at the City of Idaho Falls and later at the City of Fort Worth, where they updated code compliance databases and produced high-quality maps using ArcGIS.

From 2015 to 2018, Chris was a Graduate Assistant at Texas Christian University's IT Help Desk, providing technical assistance and support to faculty, students, and guests. Chris gained expertise in installing and supporting various software and hardware systems.

In 2018, Chris joined TEKsystems as a Validation Engineer, and later became a Quality Assurance Lead, managing a team of validation engineers. Chris ensured the accuracy and adherence of OSP fiber-optic routes to client standards and developed plans to improve productivity.

From 2019 to 2023, Chris worked at Taylorsville-Bennion Improvement District as a Geographic Information System Specialist, where they organized feature classes into geodatabases and digitized paper documents, making them searchable and accessible for field use.

Currently, Chris holds the position of OSP Engineer I at Timmons Group, where they are trained in FME and assists with data importation and dashboard updates.

Chris Colwell's education history includes a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geology from Brigham Young University - Idaho, which was obtained from 2008 to 2014. Subsequently, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Geology from Texas Christian University, completing it from 2015 to 2018. Additionally, Chris Colwell has obtained several certifications, including the Wastewater Collection System Operator Grade II - Restricted from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality in May 2023. Chris also holds the Utah Drinking Water System Operator - Distribution Grade IV certification obtained in April 2022 from the same institution. Furthermore, they obtained the ArcGIS Desktop Associate 19-001 certification from Esri in July 2020.
