Clay Cundiff has a diverse range of work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. In 2009, they worked as a Firestop Project Estimator at Kirby-Vass Insulation, Inc./Firestop of Virginia, Inc., where they estimated jobs in the Firestop technology field and assembled a Management Manual and System for approval by Underwriters Laboratories (U.L.).
In 2010, Clay had an internship at Lanford Brothers Company, Inc., where they worked as an Intern/Tech Advisor. Clay worked in the office as well as the field and was also the Schedule Engineer for a large asphalt reclamation project on Interstate 81 in the Staunton District while attending school full-time. Clay continued their internship with Lanford Brothers Company, Inc. in 2010 and took on the role of Intern/Technical Advisor & Schedule Engineer.
In 2012, Clay joined Lanford Brothers, Inc. as an Engineer. Clay primarily worked on a large job in Arcadia, VA, focused on redesigning and rebuilding a curve on Interstate 81 to minimize crashes. Clay also undertook smaller office tasks, such as organizing and analyzing data for upcoming bids, as well as GPS modeling.
From 2013, Clay began working at Timmons Group as a Project Manager within the Economic Development practice. Their responsibilities involved bringing engineering knowledge to site selection, performing preliminary site analysis, evaluating industrial development potential, and assisting sites in advancing site readiness. Clay managed current projects across the state, developed systems for efficient project management, and produced various reports, exhibits, and site assessments.
In 2013, Clay also worked at Raíces as a Program Coordinator. Raíces is a cross-cultural non-governmental organization that focuses on inspiring college students to make a positive difference in the world. Clay assisted the director in Granada while also taking classes in the CELE Program at the University of Granada's Center for Modern Languages.
Lastly, Clay served as an Assistant Wrestling Coach at Armstrong High School from 2015 to 2022.
Clay Cundiff completed their Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. In addition to their degree, Clay also obtained several certifications. Clay became a Smartsheet Product Certified User in November 2019 and received a Professional Engineer's License from the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation in December 2017. Most recently, in November 2021, Clay obtained a Core App certification from Smartsheet.
