Tim Dettrick

Principal Software Engineer & Team Lead at Tiny Technologies

Tim Dettrick is a software engineer with over 15 years of experience. Tim began their career in 2005 as a Systems Programmer with Information Technology Services at The University of Queensland. During this time, they developed and maintained mission-critical Internet authentication and traffic management software using Perl and a replicated MySQL database back-end. Tim also took on the role of lead developer and acting project manager of a replacement Internet traffic management portal, utilizing PHP MVC application, JSON web services, SOAP web services, LDAP directory servers, and memcached.

In 2011, Tim joined the ITEE eResearch Group at The University of Queensland as a Senior Software Engineer. Tim was responsible for open-source software development for research, including a cloud-based research tools platform based on Docker/rkt containers and Scala.

In 2018, Tim began working for Console Group as a Senior Developer and for Tiny as a Principal Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer.

Tim Dettrick attended Chinchilla State High School from 1995 to 2000. Tim then went on to The University of Queensland, where they obtained a BE in Software Engineering between 2001 and 2004. Tim also has three additional certifications from Coursera, which they obtained in 2013 and 2014: Computing for Data Analysis (February 2014), Principles of Reactive Programming (December 2013), and Functional Programming Principles in Scala (November 2013).
