Jim Ramsay has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Jim started their career in 1984 as the Manager of Information Systems at ATR Wire & Cable, where they oversaw IT operations, designed and implemented software systems, and supervised other programmers. In 1996, they transitioned to TMS Global as a Team Leader, leading a mission team and overseeing various operations such as education, outreach, and medical work. Over the years, they progressed to roles such as Senior Director Field Ministry and Vice President for Global Operations, where they managed departments, partnerships, and cross-cultural workers. Currently, Jim serves as the Chief of Global Operations at TMS Global, responsible for the supervision and care of ministry workers worldwide, as well as serving as the organization's resident missiologist and interfacing with global partnerships.
Jim Ramsay has an extensive education history, with degrees earned from three different institutions. Jim began their academic journey at Berea College, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics from 1978 to 1982. Following this, they attended Asbury Theological Seminary from 1986 to 1993, where they obtained their Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree. During their time at Asbury, their field of study focused on Theology and Missions. Finally, from 2011 to 2019, Jim Ramsay attended Bakke Graduate University, where they completed their Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree. The field of study for their doctoral program included Urban Ministry, Global Diaspora, and Transformational Leadership.
