Chao Liu

Chao Liu is a seasoned researcher and systems engineer specializing in wind energy technology at TNO since April 2019, focusing on wind turbine testing, modeling, and digital twin technology. Liu's expertise includes analyzing mechanical loads, power performance, and safety testing of wind turbines, as well as developing virtual sensors and smart asset management systems. Prior experience includes roles as a certification engineer and mechanical engineer at Emergya Wind Technologies B.V., where certification reports were created, certification processes managed, and mechanical designs optimized for various wind turbines. Liu also held positions as a FEM engineer at XEMC Darwind and an airfoil design engineer at Ansaldo Thomassen, contributing to the design and analysis of gas turbine components. Educational qualifications include a Master's in Aerospace Engineering from Delft University of Technology and a Bachelor's in Thermal Energy and Power Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology.
