Dr. Mark Sliphorst has extensive work experience in the field of powertrain research and engineering. Dr. Mark currently holds the position of Head of Powertrains - Research Manager at TNO, where they are responsible for the execution of powertrain research projects in collaboration with OEM customers and industry partnerships. Dr. Mark leads the multidisciplinary Powertrains Department and Innovation Center Sustainable Powertrains, oversees budgeting and forecasting, and ensures project results and compliance with Q-SHE and ISO standards. Dr. Mark also has experience in clutch systems engineering and project management at Punch Powertrain, where they served as Clutch Systems Chief Engineer and Sr. Project Manager. Prior to that, they worked as the Department Manager for Systems Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Throughout their career, Dr. Sliphorst has held various technical and managerial roles, including positions at Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd., LuK - Schaeffler, DLR, and EADS. Their areas of expertise include transmission testing, wet dual clutch testing, combustion instabilities, and heat transfer modelling.
Dr. Mark Sliphorst obtained their Ph.D. in Applied Physics, with a focus on Combustion and Thermo-acoustics, from Delft University of Technology. Dr. Mark completed their doctoral studies from 2007 to 2011. Prior to their Ph.D., Dr. Sliphorst pursued a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, specializing in Aerodynamics and Propulsion, also at Delft University of Technology. Dr. Mark earned their M.Sc. between 1997 and 2004.
