Jorge Melo

Jorge Melo is a Scientist Innovator in Computer Vision at TNO since May 2022, focusing on document authentication, computer vision for the built environment, and advanced technologies like AI and GenAI. Previously, Jorge worked as a Data Scientist at TMC, and as a Computer Vision Scientist at Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS, where the main contributions included developing an optical character recognition pipeline for the SINATRA project. Further experience includes positions at Oreyeon LDA as a Machine Learning and Computer Vision Engineer, and at Philips as a Healthcare Research Intern, where Jorge explored signal processing for medical applications. Early career roles encompass serving as Chief Innovation Officer at jeknowledge, overseeing project execution and event management, and a Data Science Internship at Farfetch, enhancing knowledge in machine learning and deep learning frameworks. Jorge holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Universidade de Coimbra and a complementary course in Music Performance from Conservatório de Música de Águeda.
